The central mission of the TREE project (‘Training for integrating Refugees in the Euregio’) is to provide social workers, teachers, medical staff and interpreters with further training as a basis for promoting the integration and development of immigrants in the sub-regions of the Meuse-Rhine Euregio.
Coordinated further education modules support full-time and volunteer refugee helpers in their efforts to assist and qualify immigrants in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine more effectively. This enables immigrants from different countries, in particular refugees, to actively participate in their inclusion and shape their own future. With the resulting added value, TREE is laying another foundation stone for a unified community mindset, inclusion and empowerment in the Euregional integration process.
TREE is scheduled for a duration of three years and aims to create a Euregional standard in refugee integration as well as unified measures in the cultural integration of immigrants to strengthen collective identity and the co-determination of life in our region.
TREE’s work benefits from the wide-ranging experience of its Euregional partners, who are all specialists in their field and have different perspectives of the integration process. The pooling of experience will create synergies and a multi-perspective approach to meet the challenges in the Euregio area.
Creating community by celebrating diversity?
The prerequisite for successful interaction and coexistence is a feeling of belonging.
In view of the constantly growing number of new immigrants, a common Euregional identity is needed to do justice to the situation of cultural divergence and take advantage of the opportunities offered by diversity.
